Avalanche Level 2 with Avalanche Rescue
January 27 – 31, 2021
This Level 2 Course with Avalanche Rescue is a 5-Day 40-hour program that provides backcountry leaders the opportunity to advance their avalanche knowledge and decision making skills.
The Level 2 builds from the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced in the Level 1 and adds to it the evaluation of factors critical to stability evaluation and terrain selection. The Avalanche Rescue course is a prerequisite for the Level 2 and builds on the Companion Rescue Techniques introduced in the Level 1 Course.
Student Learning Outcomes

2. Create an avalanche hazard assessment without a local bulletin.
3. Describe, create and implement a framework for planning, decision making and risk management in consideration of leading a group in avalanche terrain.
4. Practice travel and terrain mitigation techniques under supervision with feedback in a variety of avalanche terrain situations.
